I wish I had more to say about my graduation, but as I told my family, it's hard to feel like this is the end when I've had so many "ends": I defended and passed, I submitted my dissertation to the Graduate college, I taught my final day, I submitted my grades . . . and now, after walking across the stage, I'm supposed to feel like it's over? And, in the most cliche way it feels nothing like an end, because now I must move states to begin work as an Assistant Professor of English (which I'll share more about when I can!).
As well, I wanted to mention that I got to do this side-by-side with my fiancee, who, if you look further, has been by my side since our first graduation over ten years ago. I could not have asked for a better way to wrap up my time at UC. The PhD wasn't always easy, in fact it mostly wasn't, but this is a time in my life I will miss: but I'm glad I got to celebrate with family.
