On May 1st, I would have walked across the stage to receive my Master's degree in English. Today, I submitted my grades and am now finished with all of my work and studies at Ohio University. It doesn't feel like it though, of course, since there wasn't any fanfare. The idea of "walking across the stage" is one we all hold in our minds as "the end." So perhaps it's fitting that I didn't get to do this, to mark the end, as it really isn't the end. It is but a step toward a future that I have been waiting for for a long time. This doesn't mean, though, that the fanfare wouldn't have been nice; all I got from my final moments at Ohio University were pressing a button and then sighing in relief. Regardless of the lack of fanfare, the next step begins. See you in the fall, University of Cincinnati, as I begin my PhD.Β Β
